I got home today, and I always go over and say 'hello' to my furbabies
and I noticed Harley, my youngest Budgie - was half asleep, but then woke up and started 'yawning' although it turned into more of a gagging...I was really worried so I came on here and googled some info and I found that if a bird is opening his mouth, like gagging, that he's just adjusting his crop, and it's totally normal? Is this true?? ![]() IMG_1484.jpg |

Re: Yawning Budgie... ?!
I've not come across this before? It might be worth calling your avian vet, they are normally great for giving advice over the phone.
It would be interesting to confirm ![]()

Re: Yawning Budgie... ?!
I had a word with a breeder I know, and she says that it's normal, they're either yawning... popping their ears, or adjusting their crop - maybe some seed hasn't gone down properly... just aslong as it's rare that he does it, it's ok, it's when it's constant that I should be concerned.
I also found out, Harley might be a girl lol Thanks for your replies! ![]() |
