Prawns for birds?

It may sound a little odd but would prawns just defrosted ones of course not prepared just shelled, be a good source of protein for birds? I was feeding some to the fish the other day and just wondered if they would be appetising or nutricious? I can't imagine they would be bad in anyway. Also they sell meal worms in Wilkinsons for wild birds, as birds eat them in the wild would that be ok to?

how old is your bird? if he is too young i suggest sticking to fresh fruits and nuts, if there are worms in your store go get him some.

Re: Prawns for birds?

He's six months old now . I've not tried him with fish as such although he was interested in my cod in parsley sauce a few weeks back! Just a nibble of course but he's generally interested in anything you have that resembles food!.

I might try some of those dried meal worms though, something to play with if anything. If you slot something in the bars he normally tries to squeeze onto it and use it as a perch lol He's getting better though, I caught him actually eating from his Trill toppers today rather than sitting on it, so that's progress!
