Rocky....my first Q

OK i will try to make this sweet and simple.

We got a galah off a lady that feed him on nothing but sunflower seeds so he now has fatty tumors.

After 6 months with us we found that he was in love with a close family friend and was very tame around her so she offerd to take him to live with her.

After almost 1 yr with her both his tumors have shrunk . he has all the fresh fruit and veg he can eat and get a few nuts and seeds every couple of days, due to the fat they cause his tumors to get larger. He is offerd a wide range of foods like Lentil, pasta, rice. He is a very very fussy eater, due to the years of sunflowers.

He is now around 15-18 years old. we think that due to his diet his skin and beack has become dry however we are not sure this is the cause.

We cannot really add more fat and oil into his diet as it corses tumors to inlarge.

Here are some pics of his skin and his cage.

Any pointers as to what this is and what we can do to help would be great.

Awww poor guy..

Does he know that there?..i mean does he pick at them?..
What does your vet say about it, can they not remove them?

What about putting something in a spray bottle or can he bath on his own?

My grey hated sunflowers seeds .

Hope you find something to help him..

Re: Rocky....my first Q

You could try aloe vera, putting it directly on the skin also it's good for them to eat.

Have you consulted your avian vet?
