To anyone who's rescued a baby pigeon

Back in August I rescued a baby pigeon that had been blown out of its nest. There was quite a bit of advice on-line about how to feed baby pigeons with a syringe using a bird formula product called Kaytee. I didn't have that but my pigeon did really well being fed from the syringe with "Fortisip" human build-up liquid, mixed with some elderberries from the garden which I put in the blender. I haven't been able to find much on-line information about what to do next, but have had some valuable tips from petforum members. Anyway, the pigeon is now back in the wild, but visits daily for food which is soaked barley and soaked oak groats. You can get small 500g bags of organic barley from the Co-Op supermarket and I buy small bags of 500g organic oat groats from Healthy Supplies: Health Food Online. Hopefully the above will be of use to anyone else who rescues a baby pigeon.

Re: To anyone who's rescued a baby pigeon

Any wild bird seed mix will feed any wild pigeon. Plus fruit. I raised a wild wood pigeon from a tiny baby. Rearing with kaytee.

I called him "pigeon" inventive i no. And he stayed tame for over a year, even bringing his girlfriend to visit me. Pigeon looved grapes and apples mostly but would pick at other fruits and veg.

He would land on your shoulder and groom your hair. Follow you EVERYWHERE including in my kitchen

He loved cuddles and came when called or whistled. He would sleep outside my bedroom window and wait for me to rise n shine.

I would muck out the horses and he would be on the floor flicking through the poop as his mummy was rolleyes:

And then when it was all over his feet, land on my head and get it in my hair.

But ooooooh i loved him. I has been 8 years since i reared him and my boss who still lives there says she still sees him with a brood every year! woohoo

Yes I rescue a pigeon. I found it on a road. I pick it and take it at home. Give him feed and water. then I found him mother. I see a pigeon's mother on the nearest tree. She was very disappointed after the loss of his child. I feel very bad and pick the pigeon in his nest. I happy to sea that both are relax and happy.
