cockatiel with respiratory infection

Hi my pet cockatiel Pepe has been diagnosed with a respiratory infection. The first vet told me to put some antibiotics in water but it did not work. However, he got me an appointment with an avian specialist who told me to syringe antibiotic and a fungal antibiotic in to his beak. I have been doing this for two days and he is still panting. He does however eat and drink plenty. How long should it take to start clearing the problem? Any advice will be appreciated as I love him dearly and just want him to be ok. The avian vet said to leave it for 5 days or so but I just need reassurance from others that it will just take a few days.

Many thanks

Thanks for the assurance Also is it good to keep using a vegetable steamer to provide steam or should I be doing something else?

If the avian vet didn't mention it I would stop using it

Re: cockatiel with respiratory infection

Hello

Did your cockatiel get better? I think mine has something similar but I have read that once your bird is noticeably ill, its chances aren't very good.

Thanks
David
