Toneeh will become famous soon enough
Red face Scarlet Macaw, African Grey and Blue and red macaw

My mum has these three birds. they have parrot food, along with like 6 types of nuts and fruit. They have a complete mix occasionally, but mostly its fresh and nuts and seeds with other stuff i dont know.

Anyways, i was wondering if anyone knows of any way to make some food for them, that is not only a treat but can be enrichment too? My mum makes them this weird loaf, with different fruits and such she got from a book, and they seem to love it, but i want to know if there is anything i can give them as a treat? What are they definately not allowed?

also, is there anything I can make them to play with that is safe? I just thought it would be nice to do when i next visit them.

Thanks

Re: Scarlet Macaw, African Grey and Blue and red macaw

Hi, our parrots pretty much eat what we do in the evenings, the only 2 toxic things for parrots are Advocado and Chocolate, the only others you need to watch is salt and sugar content, i basically feed them as i do my 4 year old daughter.
Sunflower seeds and monkey nuts are also a big no no when it comes to parrot food.
Mine all love chicken (and bone), rice and pasta, mash, cooked veg, small amount of cheese and yogurt, eggs - scrambled and boiled, toast, peanut butter, all fruit, the list goes on.
