Question Deaf canary?

I have recently had to replace my canary after the old boy died (at least 11 yrs old).As the person I got all my previous bids from had stopped breeding I had to purchase a new bird from a petshop and they haven't been much help.
The bird I have seems to have a hunch back, sleeps with its head hanging down(not tucked up) and is not making any noise at all.(I know it could be in a moult but is not losing any feathers). It seems not to hear when I click my fingers or put the radio on-is it possible for a canary to be deaf?
The bird has a good appetite and is drinking regularly any help appreciated.

Re: Deaf canary?

I agree that he sounds poorly but appetite is O.K. I have tried a couple of different tonics but doesn't seem to have made much difference, maybe I will just have to be patient.
Thankyou for your reply.

Thankyou for your reply.
Forget the tonics...get some glucose and mix with the drinking water for an energy boost...cheaper and better.
