Re: cockatiels talking

No, unfortunately not. Both of our wee birds are female and apparently males are more usually the talkers. However, both Maddy and Berta are more than happy to whistle for their supper rather than sing :0)

Best wishes...........Charlie

Re: cockatiels talking

I had an aviary cockatiel called Dogend (don't ask ) that used to say, 'who's a pretty boy?'

Re: cockatiels talking

We once had a cockatiel that imitated the phone so closely that we kept thinking the phone was ringing. He wolf wistled every time I walked into the room but never any one else and he used to shout 'ROBERT ROBERT ROBERT' every time he was on his own and wanted some attention.

Re: cockatiels talking

we didn't do anything with ours. He was bred by my aunty and his mother talked. He just repeated things he heard in the house OH taught him to wolf whistle by repeatingly whistling to him but the shouting Robert her heard my mother in law and copied her

My cockatiel used to wolf whistle all the time but never does it anymore, we keep trying to teach her it again.

Re: cockatiels talking

My Cockatiel has a full range of noises, from Stirring a tea cup every time he hears the kettle boil, to laughing and saying basic things like "good morning", "hiya", "what are you doing". Plus all the other things like telephone rings, whistles and other very annoying noises like the washing machine!!...But they do forget quite easily if they are not encouraged to practice noises and words. Some i stopped encouraging lol he can be quite piercing at times.

Enjoy teaching your cockatiel some quiet noises...Have fun
