Unfertilized eggs wanted
Hi,
I would like to ask bird breeders 'what do they do with their unfertilized eggs?' If the answer is 'throw them away', would you consider selling them? My hobby is decorating eggs and turning small eggs into jewellery and ornaments. Budgie eggs are very hard to work with as they are so fragile, but not impossible. I've never worked with a canary, finch, parrot egg or any other small egg, but I'd like to try. I usually work with duck, quail or goose eggs. I'm offering to pay for any eggs and p&p. Or, I live near Bolton, Lancashire so could collect within a reasonable distance. Karen |

Re: Unfertilized eggs wanted
Hi.
Is a rhea egg too big...? Mine are laying like mad & there are bound to be a few blanks amongst them. I incubate all sorts of stuff, quail, chicken, turkey, goose - I also have Seramas (smallest chicken you can get) they lay little white eggs. I'll start saving them up if you like & can bung you a box of bits off when I've got a few. I don't want any money for them. Would you want me to try to blow them for you of would you want to do that yourself? It would keep postage down, but I might not be as good at it as you.....! Also I'm new on here so I'll have to remember to log back in. I didn't even remember joining, I just got an email telling me there was new pet suppliers on here now! Cheers Helen |

Re: Unfertilized eggs wanted
Helen,
Rhea, quail and goose are perfect for decorating. I'm not sure about turkey or seramas as I've never tried before, but am certainly willing to give them a go. If you can blow them, that would be great - it doesn't matter if blow-holes aren't perfect as I usually patch them up with pollyfilla anyway. Thanks, Karen |

Re: Unfertilized eggs wanted
Thought I'd add a couple of pictures. The two large eggs are small goose eggs, and the tiny egg is a large budgie egg.

Re: Unfertilized eggs wanted
Wow!
Those eggs certainly are impressive!!!!! Ok, I'll start hanging on to blank eggs. It might take a while to gather a few up as I've only just set the rhea eggs so won't know how many blanks I'll have for a few weeks maybe. Helen |

Re: Unfertilized eggs wanted
Thank you for your kind replies. I started decorating eggs around 12 years ago, but had to stop as I was a carer for my elderly father. During this time, a house move and my two dogs damaged the eggs I'd already done
. My father passed away in 2009 and I've got more time, so I'm building my collection back up. I have a beautifully decorated duck egg with an opening which is waiting for a smaller egg to go inside. At the moment I'm working on a large goose egg which will have a bantam egg inside. Will post a picture when finished.I'm keen to work with any sized egg and am willing to pay for them too . |
