I incubate all sorts of stuff, quail, chicken, turkey, goose - I also have Seramas (smallest chicken you can get) they lay little white eggs.

I'll start saving them up if you like & can bung you a box of bits off when I've got a few. I don't want any money for them. Would you want me to try to blow them for you of would you want to do that yourself? It would keep postage down, but I might not be as good at it as you.....!

Also I'm new on here so I'll have to remember to log back in. I didn't even remember joining, I just got an email telling me there was new pet suppliers on here now!

Cheers
Helen
Rhea eggs are brilliant for this. I used to give my Rhea eggs to a lady down the road and what she did with them was magnificent. Sorry I don't keep them now.
To see a tiny finch egg decorated like this would be very interesting.

Re: Unfertilized eggs wanted

The pink/white goose egg casket in the photo took around 6 hours as it has a hinged lid with a white satin lining and cost around £45 to make as it has Swarovski crystals on it. A lot of this time is taken up waiting for glues and paint to dry. A small egg like a budgies takes days of preparation in strengthening the shell before it can be blown, painted and worked on.

I don't sell my creations as it's just a hobby, something just for me after spending many years caring for children and parents. Although a couple of friends have received them as gifts.

I didn't know some eggs required a certificate. And I don't want to break any breeding laws so could you please let me know if there are any that I shouldn't use.

Thanks, Karen

Re: Unfertilized eggs wanted

It gets really complicated with species changing classification all the time and I am not sure how it effects eggs. If you are not selling or publicly displaying them I wouldn't worry about it. The best place to check if you wanted to be sure would be DETR (Department of the Environment, International Trade in Endangered Species Branch, Tollgate House, Houlton Street, Bristol, BS2 9DJ) or you could try and make sense of thisAnimal Health - Cites FAQ

Re: Unfertilized eggs wanted

I would think you would be fine with any of my eggs as I only keep domestic poultry & the rheas (which need no licence)

I have 2 non fertile rhea eggs so far, but I need to find my small drill bit to blow them - impossible to poke a hole in them with a skewer! On the other hand, quail eggs are impossible to poke a hole in without crushing them!

I might have a nice blank goose egg too, candled it last night & can't see any signs, but will just give it a couple more days to be sure.

Re: Unfertilized eggs wanted

A local farmer has given me some peacock eggs to work on. Have just blown and cleaned them, they'd gone 'off' so stank my kitchen out. Not sure how well they will drill, but they are a beautiful shape. I hope to get some work done on them soon, if I'm not too distracted by the World Cup. COME ON ENGLAND!
