Re: 2 conures for trade

2 conures for sale

In this post you state you do not have time for the birds and that it was a sad sale as you loved them very much.
Slightly changed your tune on this post and if you haven't got time for these two you definitely will not have time for a grey.
I think you are doing the right thing selling them on but not in getting another bird

Re: 2 conures for trade

Well lets hope you've done for research on a grey, not like you did on conures, if you did your research properly you wouldn't have ever needed to say QUOTE" ..i do not have interest in them...THERE JUST NOT MY TYPE".

What makes you so sure a Grey is your type of bird? Sorry but I think everyone reading this post is now very concerned.

You say you are off to college, so being in the US you must be quite a young person? Please don't forget Greys live for around 60 years, once you get this bird you will have it for life. Greys are extremely susceptible to life changes and can easily get bored which leads to many behavioural problems, one main one being feather plucking. They also cost money to keep.

They require lots of fresh fruit and veg on daily basis, vet insurance and to be registered with an avian vet, special multi-vits for parrots, especially calcium supplements. Lots of toys, that should be rotated in their cage, and believe me they get through lots of toys as they love to chew, it's a bird with an inbuilt set of bolt cutters

Then you have the time factor, as they need regular out of cage time and training. If you are at college all day, you can’t just go out partying afterwards. Having an African Grey is like have a human child, are you ready for kids??

Please do think very carefully, sorry if I seem patronizing, but I just want you to be very sure on your decision as there are too many of these beautiful birds that end up in rescues.

Re: 2 conures for trade

You have to think its a life long commitment too though there will be a time when you leave home and do have bills. Greys can bond very strongly to there owners so rehoming the bird if things didnt work out would cause the bird stress. How about sticking with the ones you have for now and maybe get a grey later in life when you have your own home etc.
