Re: cockatial keeps closeing his eyes

Does he look slouched on the perch and a bit fluffed up because this might mean he is ill.
Is he lively or does he sleep a lot?

He may well be napping they do it on and off fluff up and close there eyes. Mine use to do it . Just keep an eye . If worried at all about liquid intake offer some fruit or leafy veg .

Re: cockatial keeps closeing his eyes

Mine used to make lovely cracking noise with his beak whilst napping use to make me cringe. We had ours for 14 years and my mother in laws is now 21 and still going . Love cockateils ours use to whistle half a pound of tupenny rice. and say give us a kiss. Use to talk the the kitchen mirror in the mornings.

Re: cockatial keeps closeing his eyes

tHEY COMMONLY LIKE LOOKING AT THERE REFLECTION GIVES THEN THE IDEAR THERES ANOTHER BIRD THERE I THINK SOMETIMES. MINE HAD A MIRROR THROUGH HIS WHOLE LIFE AND IT WAS NEVER A ISSUE. BE CARFUL WITH FULL LENGHT MIRRORS IF YOU LET HIM OUT THOUGH AS THEY CAN FLY INTO THEM CAUSING HARM TO THEM SELFS.
