new baby cockatiel

hello just after some advice on training my new baby he is 12 weeks old and i have had him since friday i let him out today for a little but but he did not want to come to me he fly out and on the the sofa and then the floor i managed to get him on to my finger and he stayed for a bit then i put him on top of cage you think this might be to soon? should i give him more time in the cage first? iam worryed i dont want him to hurt his wings in the room

hi yeah give him another week or so till he gets used to his surroundings, open the cage and let him look around,they are quite easy to train,but you do need to keep saying the same thing over and over till they get used to what you want them to say, mine used to mimick the phone, and eat out of my mouth,enjoy him

You shouldn't really let your cockatiel eat out of your mouth as humans carry bacteria in their mouths that can be toxic to cockatiels.
