Re: finches

I would love love love to keep finches. I have kept the usual budgies, cockatiels, lovebirds and the more unusual kakarikis and cloncurry parrots. But I have always wanted to keep finches like my grandad did before me.

Sadly we won't be able to unless we somehow manage to buy our own home.

Re: finches

We're local authority housing and in the tenancy they state we cannot keep poultry or aviary birds as they attract rats. But confusingly we're allowed to keep rabbits and feed the wild birds, which also attracts rats.

One day I will have my finches, even if it involves winning the lottery lol

Re: finches

Hi there, just been bought a pair of delightful Java Sparrows as an early birthday present from my husband. I've always kept budgies and canaries before, never had finches. They came home yesterday and seem to have settled down nicely, the male has even started singing!

My son's budgie has had her beak put out of join slightly as she has had to downsize so the finches can have the larger cage!

I don't know if we are going to breed them yet, we will have to see.

Kind regards

Janine

Re: finches

finches were my passion as a teenager, but i had to give them up a few years ago when i moved away from home. i recently got myself some java sparrows and the finch bug is nagging me for more already!!
ive kept around 25 different species over a 12 year period. im not an expert as such, but i know my stuff when it comes to finches! so if you want advice then give me a shout
