Rescued Duckling

Hi I just brought home a little Abandoned Duckling with no mum, he (Percy) had 2 brothers/sisters but they sadly passed away due to hypothermia.
We have been feeding him small bits of lamb and chick meal, and drinking fine. He is also running around and catching flies (with a little help from me!).
Tonight we will put a hot water bottle in with him, is there anything else we should do? Thanks!

Re: Rescued Duckling

Go to your nearest large pet shop and ask for a correct food for it.

Re: Rescued Duckling

Agree with Poohdog - he needs to be on chick crumbs really, scrambled egg smushed up very fine with some bread crumbs will do as a very temporary measure until you can get to a pet shop. He also needs water that he can drink but not swim in - as they are not waterproof until their feathers come through so can get wet through and cold very quickly, a heat lamp would probably be better as a hot water bottle will get cold quickly. Good luck!

she is my neighbour,
they have been feeding it food made for chicks and some egg.
he has hardly touched the egg though he just loves meat!
and he does have a small shallow bowl which when he stands in it covers his feet and thats all!
i will tell her about the lamp though................
they are planniong on releasing him into the wild,
so to train up his instincts what should they do?
