Just popped in for some help!

Hiya from the dog forum, I just witnessed something awesome in my back garden!!

I was watching a little shrew pootling about in my back garden when from nowhere this huge bird of prey swooped down and caught it in its huge yellow feet/claws and it must have kept its momentum going or something because as it took off it actually crashed into my french Doors , took a moment to recover then took off again with the little shrew.

Obv I didnt get a piccie so have been looking online to see if I could indentify it, now, I'm no expert, but it looks like it could have been a Sparrowhawk or an American Kestrel - but would I have an American Kestrel in my back garden???

It was rather large and had what I would call motley coloured feathers....

Can anyone help??
