wing clipping?

I've never intended to clip Bird's wings and always thought birds should have the ability to fly, however Bird is still terrible at flying, he gets into a major panic and flap around banging into walls and units etc and then he carries on panic and gets really huffy for a good while after. I'm terrified that he's going to seriously injure himself!

I know he's still young (about 5-6 months) so I'm hoping that he will grow out of it, but do you think I should look into having his wings clipped? And if I did clip them, when they grew out would he be able to fly normally or would his flying get even worse because of the without it?

Re: wing clipping?

check over his flight feathers & make sure everything is in place
learning to fly is like learning to ride a bike, yes- they will fall off & bang their head & stumble but they will get it
it takes time & patience, flying is quite the art
hang in there you can help by covering mirrors, windows & removing ornaments ect & creating plenty of landing spot
it's part of the process, just watch closly

Re: wing clipping?

As above
If you clip his wings when the cut feathers moult out he will still need to learn to fly and land
