I got a parrot off my friend about 3 weeks ago . He is a meyers parrot, is about 12 years old but has not had much interaction with humans. I have been bonding and spending a lot of time with him and seem to be making friends with him.
One problem I have is he likes to try and perch on my head, attempts to bite me and when he does sit on my shoulder he will sit there happily for about 20 mins and then unprovoked he will bite my ear .
There must be a reason for this. Is there a way of telling him off without startling him and also is there way of showing your dominance without threatening behaviour?

A sharp 'No!' and back in the cage....could take some time though...
