Pigeons

I apologize if this is the wrong section, didn't know where would be more suitable.

Are pigeons like swans in that they mate for life? It's just we have 2 pigeons that always sit on our washing line when there's food out and I have never seen one without the other. As far as I can tell anyways it's always the same pair. Even during the summer when I wouldn't be as dedicated to putting food out I could go a few weeks without putting food out so obviously I wouldn't see them but now as the weather is getting colder there's always food available so they are there every day, it's kind of touching to know they remembered where they get fed!

Must get a photo of them tomorrow, they kind of feel a bit like pets now because they've been coming here for over a year. Obviously small little birds are visiting us too but these pigeons are starting to grow on me.

Thanks for the reply, but still can't understand why I never see one without the other, I don't think I actually can remember ever seeing just one pigeon on it's own out there. They must be good friends!
