Considering birds..
Ive never had birds before but I now keep looking at my old rat cage and wondering if it would be a good home for a pair of zebra finches!!
It is 37" x 19" x 31" with bar spacing of 14mm. Would this be suitable??
It was rubbish for rats as the doors made it awkard for taming and cleaning shelfs, both of which wouldnt be an issue with finches. I would keep the cage in my bedroom (along with all my houseplants!!), so no access given to my cats and dogs and nice and peaceful/stress free.
I had never thought of having birds before coz of the problems with free flying not mixing with lots of cats, but finches can do fine in a big enough cage to get some exercise, right?? (I must admit I do love to watch sparrows going about their business but a big outdoor cat population means I rarely see a bird now).
