I have a pair of golden mantle rosellas, I hung a parakeet nesting box filled half way with wood shavings, the female scrapped it all away and layed 5 eggs on the flat wood surface she sat on them for 5 weeeks and now has abandoned them,I think she has done that because of them rolling about, can anybody give advice on nesting material or an alternative to a flat botom.

I used to put nesting material in my nest box but my birds would just chuck it out. I have tried kitchen towel as well and they sometimes shred it and use that. Alternatively you could try to make a hollow in the bottom of the nest box so that the next time your female lays eggs, they don't roll round so much.
