Exclamation Bought New Pair of Canary

I bought a pair of canary ... its a week passed and i still did not hear any type of singing, The shopkeeper told me about the male , That bird is taking care of nest . I am not sure either male take a part in nesting or not ...

For the time being i separated them because they scream to each other while opening the beak. please tell me what to do ...
Is it a gender mistake or i must give them some time .... in separate cages

Regards

Re: Bought New Pair of Canary

Hi my canaries are just going into a moult now so male will not sing while they moult, think I would have left them together,I have to seperate mine at breeding time and sometimes other times as males will be very agressive with each other but you have a pair so they should be fine.I start breeding in March and both parent will rear the chicks, but breeding is not an easy task
