she has been sitting on the eggs for about 9 days now..
the nest is situated in an old strawberry punnet that is attatched to the outside front of the cage (we had used this to plant seeds so that they would have a little lawn out front) we let them fly free most of the time.. am worried because their cage is on top of a fairly high chest of drawrs, and there is a sheer drop from the edge of the punnet to the floor. (See pics ....) is it too late to move the nest?? are the chicks likely to fall out>> (the punnet is quite deep..) complete first timers, (actually complete surprise to have the eggs, thought we had two boys!!) any advice greatly appreciated!!! |

Re: canary has made nest in very weird place...
Hello, I am no expert but we accidently bred 2 lots of canaries, our last lot nested in food trough! which was quite high up as their cage was quite tall, the chicks where fine as they left when they were ready, just made sure there was something soft underneath for them to land on. Have you checked the eggs to see if there fertile Good Luck hope it all goes well

that has happened to my finches aswell and they made a nest in a green coconut but their eggs will not fall out unless, you either scare them or they dont want the eggs coz they are hard to lay on.
