Help with male canary

I have bred canaries before but this has never happened, had the pair in together they mated and she built the nest laid eggs and started sitting he turned very aggressive and started to attack her trying to pull her off the nest wouldn't let her feed I found the eggs smashed on the cage floor think it must have been him,I separated them to see if he would calm down she kept calling him so put them back in together they were fine until she starts building a nest now he"s starting again,I"ve always left the others in pairs and the males have helped rear the young.I"ve just separated them again but she"s going mad calling him HELP

Re: Help with male canary

How separate are they, do you have two cages you could put together?

Re: Help with male canary

I"ve got them in cages next to each other now she"s busy nesting but he"s kicking up a stink and trying to get to her and she"s calling him as well, but I"m sure when he starts on her he could kill her.I"ve never had a canary behave like that he really is a nasty bit of work. They were great together until he started singing again
