hi can any one advise me on what to feed orphaned zebra finch chicks, i know people say its virtually impossible to hand rear them but i managed to hand rear a sparrow from 2 days old i fed sparrow on dried catfood rehydrated with boiled water and fed him every half hour for first 3 weeks he thrived and was very very tame we weaned him on to bird seed nuts etc fully by about 8 weeks. are zebra finches smaller than sparrows or anymore difficult to rear also what do i feed them thanks any advice would be much appreciated.

Untill you can get some better advice from someone that knows about finches feed them mashed up boiled egg

Dead right...mixed with a quality tinned puppy food after a week or so....worked for me.
Survival rate might only be 50/50 though with such tiny birds.Every third feed add a few drops of water to the mix.
