Unless Southern California has suddenly done a 360 degree turnaround since I was last there - and by the way, Los Angeles is home to me - then you need to open your eyes! I know of not one single person or university using frozen food to feed their reptiles in the USA. I graduated from USC in herpetology.
I could sit here and make a scientific argument for (mostly) and against - but something far more important is at hand for the Brits - and that includes myself presently. I need every single reptile owner to not only JOIN a recognized reptile Association, but to keep up with current trends and most importantly, legislation. There are a large number of people and agencies out there, including much of the RSPCA who are trying hard to make reptile keeping in England illegal, and doing everything in their considerable power to stop all trade fairs and exhibitions. PLEASE do your bit!! If not, then we can all say goodbye to our reptiles. We MUST be heard, or this government will make the choice for us!!
