Not very rare at all, I'm afraid: most laboratory rats are albino.
More commonly known as Pink-eyed White, [PEW], because there's more than one way to get a white rat with pink eyes.... One of course is the genuine albino gene, but very often combinations of other colour genes can give you a rat which is white with pink eyes, a 'fake' albino if you like.
