Re: general advice needed. please help!

Hi,

If you are looking for a middle ground more affordable food, as opposed to the bottom of the barrel junk food, then there is Chicken Soup For The Pet Lovers (dog/Cat) Soul.

It is better than Friskies, for instance. ... no colorings or bad stuff like that. It does have some grain. Rice...and Barley, maybe----have to go look later and correct .... (yep..I went and looked at the bag. Cracked barley and a bit of millet)

BUT .......when I switched from Friskies to CSFTPLS, the cat poop container in my automatic litter pan, which previously had to be emptied every 24 hours , (I have 3 cats), all of a sudden did not have to be emptied for 3 DAYS! Whoo, hooo! Less poopy !

That means that the food is denser and more nutritious and the system is absorbing/utilizing more nutrients. That also causes them not to eat as often, because they feel *full* as there are more nutrients and the nutrients are doing... there job by being absorbed by the bodies needs!

Sorry I have to keep editing. I had someone at the phone and then the door! Anyway, from there if you want more of a quaility food, there are many, which are a bit pricier, but affordable if you are not feeding a multi-cat family as I am , and a DIVA POODLE, who takes first place

You can also feed raw .....or prepared RAW! Your fur baby might like the Nature's Variety Raw Medallions! I did some research on them and I feed that to the DIVA <G>

This is everything I know about the company and the foods Nature's Variety

There is also a new food on the market now (no preservatives or anything bad) It is actually sold in the Super markets, which *up until now* have only sold Pet junk foods. I recently contacted them by phone and email and here is what I have on them (below) ...... I bought some for the DIVA and she thinks it is OK! It's called Fresh Pet and Deli-Fresh and here is the communication from the consumers person I spoke to and emailed. - FreshPet and Deli Fresh

It has to stay refrigerated (No preservatives) and is in the Pet Food Isle at the grocery stores in its own case. Smells good, sort of like Beef Sticks. Ingredients are really good also! Hopefully this will give you a place to start to make some choices that you are comfortable with
