Re: sick of hearing 'you're gunna have to get rid'

If they are only moaning about his puppy nipping then I would take no notice of the moaning but I would do something about the nipping.

Can I make a suggestion that might just cure it (I've done it with all of my dogs and it really works pretty quick) even though you may think it's a bit harsh

When your pup nips at you, if it's your hands then instead of pulling away and squealing, push your hand into his mouth, not hard and not too quick, just firm enough, then hold it there until he spits you out and tell him 'No' while your hand is in his mouth. He should spit you out and pull his head away but do not take your hand out until he does.
The other thing to do, if he's biting at other parts of you is to grab his chin with fingers under the chin and thumb in his mouth under his tongue, press down and hold whilst telling him 'No' and again wait until he tries to pull away.

Another thing that will help you with this is the 'Gentle' command. Get a treat and before giving it to him tell him 'Gentle' if he tries to snap at it, pull it away. Keep trying this until he is actually gentle and tries to take the treat really slowly and of course then he can have it. Again, this is something that I've done with all of my dogs and it does help.

Collies are one of the most intelligent breeds there are and they learn very quick.

Best of luck with it
