I agree. I would put him in the kitty hotel. You could take your autofeeder for them to use in there if it would make you feel better. But I think for your own peace of mind and your cats safety, he really needs to have social contact (even if he doesn't want it) and someone to keep an eye that all is well. I am pretty sure that the staff at the cattery will have had plenty of experience looking after cats of all different personalities and will know the best way to handle him, or will learn very quickly.
You will enjoy your holiday so much more if you know he is somewhere secure with someone keeping an eye that all is well.
