Additions to the family!!

I went on holiday (to Aberdeen of all places, I was so bored!! I need to get around to getting a passport and go out the country at some point!!) I have no idea how it happened but I have ended up with 6 new mice!! Well actually I do but if anyone outside this forum asks they appeared in my luggage...
I had been in touch with a breeder to get two or three little girls but she didn't get in touch and I was so upset that mum helped me find adverts in Gumtree. We found one selling pet mice and got two little boys (gonna post the pics separately after I have finished rambling!) They are gorgeous little red satin mice. Not actually so little, they are 5-6 weeks old and are bigger than Kissifur and Mintola my 5 month old "babies." The owner had bought mice from a rodent shop to breed babies for their snakes and didn;t have the heart to do it themselves so took them back to the reptile shop to be sold as food! Howw evil is that?? They had a few left so I got two (would have taken more but was told no...) Poor mites are so scared of their cage and human contact that they just sit and shake. They only had a bed and a toilet roll tube before. It has taken them two days to figure out what a wheel is. Sob!!
Then, as I was still upset about not having any girls we phoned all the pet and reptile shops just to see if they had any. Luck! a pet shop had baby mice so we drove 2 hours (up to Inverness) to have a look. They had two 15 inch by 12 inch cages with at least 10 mice in each almost fully grown - my tank is 24 by 18 and I have only 5 in it!! So I got two little females. They couldn't even tell us if they were related but they were so cute!! And again, they would be reptile food - the pet shop "specialised" in snakes. Grr...
Then, I got home and was putting the babies into their temporary homes and thought, "oops - I should have checked you." I had checked all the mice at the shop except the tiny little cream one I bought (even checked the bigger one that I got.) Turned out one of the "females" was a male . Serves me right for not checking! So, being a responsible mousey owner, I decided that I couldn't take the poor little boy back to be snake food so went back to get him and the little girl a friend each - after all, it would be evil and cruel to make them live on their own right? So I got two more mice. Turned out they were all related and are 6 weeks old (same as the ginger mice)
So how exciting was all that?!?!
