Fishes in the tank suffer.I find this not sustainable.
I don't know if there's a statistic about the energy used worldwide to maintain aquariums and the global depletion in biodiversity and the release of alien species caused by fishes owners.
While aquariums hobby proliferates the original environment of fishes, essential for the earth and human as food provider is in serious decline.

Did they ever saved coral reefs?
Actually I would not sugget a visit to an aquarium.
What exactly is that supposed to mean? Responsibility and education is the key and I for one am responsible enough not to release common aquarium fish into natural waterways. Without the fishkeeping hobby many species of fish would be extinct, due to habitat loss from industries such as tourism and illegal logging.

So long as the fish are kept in an adequately-sized aquarium with a cycled filter and suitable water conditions then they can thrive just as well as they would in the wild.
