Timmy The Barking Irish Wolf Hound

I have an Irish wolf hound/lurcher who is a rescue dog. He was abused & abandoned at about a year old. I have spent the last 4.5 years training him and getting his confidence back but in February we lost our German Shepherd and since then Timmy has been constantly barking, at night, in the house, in the garden needless to say the neighbors are now complaining and I really don’t want to fall out with them.
I have tried giving him more attention, ignoring the bad behavior congratulating the good behavior, giving him more walks to tire him out but nothing seems to work. Am I missing something or can someone advise me. I have never believed in anti-bark collars but this may be my only option has anyone tried them before???
