You could try a cold compress if he would tolerate it.

Usually 5 mins on, 5 mins off would be sufficient.

Could he have been stung? A couple of mine have been caught out bopping bees, and it often results in a swollen foot.

You can uses piriton in cats, but i wouldnt without speaking to your vet first.
