Re: My Cat Diagnosed With Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) Advice Needed Please.
Hi
Just joined the forum five minutes ago, sorry to hear you have a cat suffering from renal failure.
I've been down this road a number of times over the years, sad as it is, it would seem to me, probably this is the most singular cause of the beginning of ill health in cats. I work in a vet practice, I'm lay staff, no professional training whatsoever, but having been with the practice for 14 years I would say, probably, barring accidents this is what, sadly, catch's up with the most of them.
Having lost four Ragdolls, all of them in or around 14 years of age, I do wonder if this is the breed average of a life span, (know many who have had raggies going on until 16, although not many) or was there something underlying in my regime! food has crossed my mind, I've always advocated dry and have fed all my cats and kittens Hills food since I got my first raggie in the late 80's. I did have great success with Fortekor with one of my girls. Like humans and medication, it is a bit of a lottery, what suits one does'nt always suit everyone.
Hope it works out good for you.
