Something that has been bothering me for a while, and just thought I would see what you guys thought...
Daisy has always had a really sensitive tum, ever since we first got her.
We have tried a range of foods, always being very careful with the changeover: Beta puppy which is what the breeder fed her, Nature Diet, JWB in the morning + Natures Menu frozen nuggets in the evening then on to Natures Menu tins instead, now Arden Grange puppy in the morning + Natures Menu tins in the evening. So, basically, fed good quality food.
On Beta & then Nature Diet
every poo was slop, it got much better with the JWB & Natures Menu combo (but she stopped eating the JWB) and is basically the same now on Arden Grange + Natures Menu tins.
However, I would say that at least once a fortnight, she gets a REALLY bad stomach upset, with very bad diarrheoa. There generally doesn't seem to be anything which triggers it, it lasts for a day or two then goes away again. Although there was one episode which lasted a whole week! Plain chicken & rice has no impact on it at all.
TBH - these days unless it is really bad & constant, I don't even starve her for 24 hours, as it doesn't seem to make much difference. Although she didn't get anything a couple of days ago as she had a really bad episode (she actually pooed inside her crate whilst my hubby was dropping kids off at school and popping to the shop- he was only gone an hour!)
We treat her monthly with Advocate, and my vet has advised that as we don't live or take her anywhere near sheep there is no need for an additional wormer, and it would be overmedicating. Any thoughts on this??? I'm not sure...
We are always watching her to see if she tries to eat anything she shouldn't, so know it isn't this.
The vet doesn't seem to have any constructive advice, other than buying Science diet (from him of course!! I think not!) and I just wondered if anyone here had any thoughts about what is causing it or how we may able to stop it.
Help! I feel so bad for her
