You really need to see the kittens and you if you are going for a breeding girl you should be looking for good type - an experienced breeder should be able to help you here. Personally I would be inclined to start off with the simpler traditional colours/patterns but that's me! For a good breeding girl you will be looking in the region of around £500 (give or take).

You need to check out the pedigree/lines too and see if the breeder may know or arrange somewhere for you can take the girl to stud when she is ready.

If you are still keen on the new breeder's cat - ask her if she can get her mentor or a more experienced breeder to look at the kitten in question and assess it if it is practicable.

Do make sure that whatever kitten you get is registered as "Active".
