I have a cat that is now 3 years old and it has been nervous ever since it got fixed, some say that we got it fixed too young but I haven't seen anything to show that fixing a male cat too early could cause something like that... either way, the cat avoids new people and even probes around everywhere it goes, it never looks like it's comfortable enough to just relax...
