Never leave an in season bitch unsupervised even in the garden - full stop. It's not always a case of getting out, a dog will climb in if it is keen enough, so it could happen in your own garden, and tbh, trying to explain to a 3 and 4 year old and hope they following your instructions is not enough.

I don't even trust some adults after I've given them instruction, much less a 3 and 4 year old,with my bitch in season. When she goes out into the garden while in season I am with her ALL the time she is out there. When I come in, she comes in... if I am not there, then only people I trust to be responsible let her out into the garden and they stay out with her until she comes in.

Anyone who cannot do that should get their bitch spayed.
