I also don't think it would be a good idea for you to bring a new dog into your home when your other dog will be feeling under the weather. He will probably be very sleepy from the anaesthetic for the first 24 hrs so it wouldn't be fair to him. I wouldn't get another dog until he's recovered fully in a few weeks.
