You have a duty BY LAW to provide veterinary treatment for an animal in your care. Having a carrier is no excuse. If you havent got one, go and buy one.

He may very well get stressed at being caught, and travelling, but if rescued wild animals can cope with it, im sure a pet chinchilla can.

There is no excuse for not taking this animal to the vets. If you arent prepared to take full responsibility for owning an animal, may i suggest you rehome it to someone who is.

Sorry if thats harsh, but in my eyes, theres no excuse to let an animal suffer for a prolonged time, when the help is out there and readily available.
