Good idea to put it in the garden during the day, careful not to get it wet though, then find a place where you'd like her to do her business and sprinkle some used litter in that area and she should get the idea, if you see her using the area praise her. All my cats go outside now but if I leave the litter tray out they will still use it especially in wet weather!
