Question Chewing Bed!

We have had Razor coming upto 10 weeks this Saturday/next Thursday he will be 5 months old.
He is crated during the night, with his bedding, a nice thick Doggy duvet. Up until last night, he has never chewed it, because he knew its his bed, and if he does, he'll have nothing to lie on. Have come downstairs to him this morning, and he's chewed it near enough to bits!
He has his normal toys in his crate with him, every night, and is crated for upto 8 hrs, during the night, which up until last night, he's been brilliant with.
He's not yet at the stage where I can leave the crate door open at night, as there is cane furniture in the conservatory where his bed is, so I'm not to sure, he wouldn't start on that
To be honest, he is a really greedy dog, he would eat 24/7 if you let him, he is still getting 3 'good' sized meals and is fed the puppy food for large breeds, so we just can't understand why he is scabbing for food throughout the day....Could this be why he's chewing his bed now, because he knows he's not going to get his breakfast until morning? He is fed at 7.45 am, then again at 12.30pm then again at 17.30 hrs, which works out right for him and us, as we always eat before he does.
BTW he's been wormed, so know its not that
Hope someone can offer us advice on this, as its something we've never experienced before.
Thank you in advance
