We have a new surprise arrival!

Yesterday my husband Vinnie was trawling Freecycle looking for some concrete slabs as we're hoping to extend the rabbits run area ready for the summer, when he read out an offered add to me for a 9 week old grey kitten.

According to the add the kitten was the only one in a surprise litter from the ladies cat. She set out a huge list of critiera that prospective owners would have to meet before she would part with the kitten (she didn't know what sex it was). Vinnie who is usually in the NO camp when it comes to getting animals said it wouldn't hurt to ask and I was of the opinion that we wouldn't be lucky as hundreds would have responded.

Anyway we fired off an e-mail telling the lady all about our home, family and pets. I was stunned to get a reply that said out of the hundreds of responses we were the only people who gave her information about our home and a contact number so she could speak to us.

They came round to view our home, meet the family and pets and then deemed us worthy to rehome their kitten.

We were gobsmacked when they turned up with a little british shorthair blue kitten who turned out to be a little girl.

With in two minutes of being here she tucked into some food and drank some kitten milk. She has been playing with toys, but spent a large amount of time hiding under the sofa watching (much the same as Charlie did on his first day). Charlie is not too impressed at the moment, but he felt the same about Thomas our adult cat and Shen the dog when he first came here.

Judging by interactions between Lola, Charlie and Shen in a few weeks she'll be ruling the roost.

Pictures to follow as soon as she's settled in properly. I thought I would give her some space before shoving my camera in her face.
