Re: i saw a degu....i might have to have it....

If you get one you'll have to get another from somewhere else. Degus HAVE to be kept in pairs as they can die from depression or loneliness if left on their own.

As for cage, For mine I have a plastic duna base (Without the wire bit) and a tall thin cage on top of it, means I can put lots of hay/wood shavings down in the bottom in the duna cage without them chucking it out Lots of shelves are essential so they can climb and run about, as are lots of chew toys. They're pretty easily amused, cardboard tubes etc are good for play toys. Most people recommend a wooden nesting box for them, but I have a chewed up rodent ball with lots of hay in that they LOVE.

Food - Chinchilla food. all the stuff they need with no added sugar, additives or preservatives. You shouldn't feed them sugary stuff as they can't digest it and it'll make them ill.

They're really fun little creatures though Once they're tame they're great fun to play with. May be a bit nervy at first but once they overcomes that they're wonderful ^_^

Sorry if you knew all this stuff before, not everyone does!

Peace
