I have a 9 week old pup and have paper trained him (though put him outside regularly to get him used to doing it out there). I use newspaper and puppy pads as these have something impregnanted in them to encourage the pup to use them. He's doing really well and has only had 2 accidents since i got him home last weekend.

I praise every 'good' toilet and give a treat but ignore the ones done in the wrong place. Make sure you clean up the wee/poo thoroughly with something that has no ammonia (as this will encourage them to return) to prevent smell and re-occurance.
