Just pop the kittens into the litter tray after every meal and they will start to use it instinctively. Be careful which litter you use as some kittens do try and eat it so it would be best to avoid any litter that clumps. I use the wood pellets which break down into sawdust when used and is softer for tiny paws than gravel.
