Re: siamese / oriental cats
Quite amusing too the remark about the 'sky high' cost of a new breed. A Serengeti sells on average for around £350 ( compared to the savannah around £1000 and the pixie bob much higher) though there are a couple of breeders who want to push that cost higher. The breed is in it's infancy here, we do not have ready made SE's like the US do and we therefore have to go back to the basics and start at the bottom. The resulting kittens ARE however registered with TICA as SE's. If you want to get picky, most breeds started out as experimental programmes but they all had to start somewhere. The fact that many of you may have joined a breed many years after this initial stage does not detract from the fact that they were originally crossbreeds. If this idea is not for you thats fine nobody is pressganging you into joining but is there any need for the animosity and bitching? WE are proud to be foundation breeders of the SE. You chose to take the comfy route and buy an established breed, we prefer the rockier climb with a new one. Live and let live and show some respect for other cat breeders for goodness sake!
As for the comment about the oriental looking like nothing else, hmm sorry but it looked exactly like the siamese but with different eye and coat colour.
