I dont think telling her not to listen to her vet is a good idea. Whilst I dont agree with you about dry food as it develops their teeth I also agree that maybe it isnt AS healthy as it should be. But NEVER advice someone to go against their vets direction, as the kitten may need this for a reason.
I strongly advise maybe giving your a vet a telephone call and explaining the situation and more professional help can be give
