Our Jessie was in season just after christmas asked the vet about this as i had never owned a bitch before , she said she is more likely to get pregnant after she finishes bleeding , apparently they are at there most fertile for the 7 - 10 days finishing her bleed after this time she will still smell good to male dogs so could be a distraction when out for another 7 days , but would not concieve at this point . Jessie bled for nearly 16 days it was a long one then we kept her to lead walks only for the next week or so .
